Rosendal Chamber Music Festival

10 – 13 August 2017

Leif Ove Andsnes, Artistic Director

Four Days of Musical Paradise

We are already well into the autumn but the memory of this year’s festival remains with me as something very special. Special because of the place, the wonderful guests artists and above all the chance it gave us all to spend time in the company of Mozart’s astonishing music. I would like to thank everyone who was involved for making our second festival in Rosendal such a success.

We are now busy planning for next year’s festival which will take place from 9 – 12 August 2018. The full programme and guest artists will be revealed mid-January and we hope, meanwhile, that you are able to mark the dates in your calendar.

I can hardly wait!

Leif Ove Andsnes

“Mozart in paradise … Leif Ove Andsnes and a group of extraordinary musicians immersed themselves in the genius of the composer in a small but big festival in the wilds of Norway.”

El Pais, Spain

“Many of Europe’s summer festivals are based on famous stars stopping by to play anything from their fixed repertoire before moving on again. Not so in Rosendal.  Here the audience is drawn in by the musicians who have gathered together to focus on a collective theme.”

Bergens Tidende, Norway

“… I spent a long time in younger years to get on speaking terms with Mozart. After my long weekend in Rosendal, we have finally become best friends.”

Klassisk Magazine, Norway

“Stardust in the rose garden – Intelligent insight and outstanding musicians allows classical music to shine in Rosendal.”

Morgenbladet, Norway

“… the sea voyage was a part of the romantic drama of this young festival. The boat was carried along the mighty fjords to the valley of Rosendal, where time turns into eternity … and the flawless performances of the musicians made for precious transient moments. “

Da Capo, Russia

“This is a Utopian place for Utopian musicians.”

The Arts Desk, UK

“Rosendal simply must be experienced!”

Radio Klassik Stephansdom, Austria

“The intensely beautiful landscape of the stately Rosendal Barony was filled with music. And not just any music, but with chamber music of the highest level.”

Dagbladet, Norway

“With the new hall and Andsnes’ impetus and stardom, the Rosendal Chamber Music Festival has got off to a flying start.”

Aftenposten, Norway

“The Rosendal Festival sold all of its tickets in a just a few days over the winter. The recipe is simple: core chamber music programming, no pandering to appeal and with bold touches of contemporary music.”

Vårt Land, Norway

“With the Rosendal Chamber Music Festival Leif Ove Andsnes has set a standard that – already in its opening year – has established itself as one of the most important events of its kind. The high sky expectations were supremely rewarded.”

Klassisk Music Magzaine, Norway

“In addition to the intelligence of its programming and the high level of its performers, the festival benefits from what is often lacking in the most exclusive of locations: authenticity and atmosphere –  truly magical.”

Diapason

“A festival that is both intimate and full of character, idyllic and with depth.”
